Where in the world (if anywhere) can a person study or take a professional career course in stage magic or the art of illusion to qualify as magician and to be able to follow the likes of Houdini and Copperfield? Or is it someting that can only be self-taught?

Email Copperfield for advice. He will answer you back. Illusionist have all kinds of trick but are always helped by others which, obviously, you never see since they are mostly dressed in black. This is the reason why the sage and low lighting are emphasized so you can’t see the helpers in the dark.
