What would be the cost to move a 3 bedroom house across country? How about to move the same in two trips?
Author: admin | Category: Staging a HouseWe are moving across country, but want to leave some things in our house for staging purposes as well as the fact that one of us is staying for a number of months until the house gets sold. We are trying to figure out how much we are going to spend if we split the move up into two trips, or if it is cost prohibitive to do so. Thanks.
I moved across the U.S. once, it is not for the faint of heart. Depending on how many days you space it out, how much you have to stop, size of the truck you need, etc, it will probably be around $5,000 each trip.

Truck rental is VERY expensive one way. The major rental companies (U-Haul, Budget, etc.) have good online calculators to give you an idea how much truck rental will be.
However, if the move is job related, you can deduct your moving expenses from your taxes.

You are asking for the price to move the HOUSE when you should be asking to move the possessions in a 3 Bedroom Home. If you add up the amount of things to be moved and assign a gross weight to it a mover can tell you the projected cost. Call a mover and show him what you are moving and get a projected weight and cost, then call 2 or 3 more and compare prices.
As stated truck rental for a one way is a fortune, and pods are not cheap either. A mover is you safest and best route. Ask your real estate agent for a list of movers that they have recommended to their customers.
Good Luck.
